Yesterday I posted the short story My Poster Girl. At the time, I indicated that the story had been influenced by a picture of a woman on a poster. Many times, a passing moment, a picture, or even a word from a friend becomes the basis of a story I write.
I am going to share with you a picture of this poster, and this young lady that captured my attention. That way you will understand why I had to write the story. Also, I want to share some sights I see on a regular basis around here. I’m only going to be at Paharanagat National Wildlife Refuge for another 10 days or so. I will try to show you, from time to time, what things look like at the oasis in the desert when the temperature begins to drop.
This poster is something we see daily at the visitor center. We can actually see it from the desk where we sit. I’m sure if I thought about it long enough, I could come up with a different story to go along with this photo. As a matter of fact, I might even continue the current story I wrote, or even make it into a novella. That might be interesting.
Meanwhile, take a look at life here in the fall. If you remember back, things used to be quite green around here. Things are transitioning towards winter. It won’t be long and there might even be a little snow on the ground. Then, in a few months life springs anew.
Good night, Mrs. Jackson, wherever you are.
